The Struggle of the Weekend “Side Project”
It’s Monday again, and I’ve realized that finding the motivation to write a weekly blog over the weekend is harder than I anticipated. I usually avoid writing during the workweek because the week isn’t “finished” yet, but by the time Sunday rolls around, I’m often drained. I keep pushing it off until suddenly—it’s Monday morning.

Progress in SEO and the Search for Inner Security
Last week was a win for my learning curve. I finished most of the SEO materials in the Gefei community, and I’m currently in the keyword research phase before building out my next site.
However, the reality of the developer grind hit me hard. After staring at a screen for eight hours at my day job, I often get home and just need to unplug. It’s a challenge to find the energy to invest in side projects when your eyes are exhausted.
I’ve been thinking a lot about financial independence. Relying solely on a salary feels risky in today’s market; I’m looking for that sense of “inner security” that only comes from diversifying my income. Sometimes the stress of the job keeps me up at night, which makes building my own thing even more important.
Avoiding the “Context Switching” Trap
I’ve realized I’m trying to do too much at once: learning English, building websites, and mastering Solana development. When you try to do everything, you end up doing nothing well. I need to double down on my focus.
Speaking of learning, I saw some great advice on Reddit for anyone looking to break into coding. If you want a clear, structured roadmap, The Odin Project and FreeCodeCamp are still the gold standards. The Odin Project, in particular, has an incredible learning path.
Overcoming the Vocabulary Plateau
I’ve hit a bit of a bottleneck with my English vocabulary. Lately, the words I’m encountering are much more complex and time-consuming to memorize. It’s discouraging, but I know it’s just a phase of the learning process.
My Goal for Next Week: Ship Fast
Next week, the goal is simple: get the website live. In the tech world, shipping quickly is everything. I need to stop overthinking and just execute.
I’ve also discovered a “pro tip” for using AI: Gemini Gems. Instead of just asking random questions, I’ve been creating custom Gems with specific instructions to act as a specialized assistant. It has completely changed my workflow.
Here’s to more progress next week!
